Annual Giving
Welcome to Our Annual Giving Resources!
Through our comprehensive resources and library of turn-key annual giving resources, churches are invited to choose the theme and focus that works best for their culture and context. Each program offers a separate logo specification document, so that ministry leaders may expand church-wide communications with matching fonts, colors, and other details.
How do you know what to choose?
It’s important to ask yourself, “When was the last time we made a discernible pivot in our fall annual giving?” Even when an annual giving ministry works really well, churches should change plans about every three years so everyone involved can experience God’s call in new and engaging ways. Because we model what we teach, two different approaches are available!
- Proportional Giving: Our first liturgical cycle of annual giving materials (2016 – 2018) draws themes from Holy Eucharist liturgy and focuses on proportional giving.
- Visual Storytelling: Our second liturgical cycle (2019 - 2021) draws themes from our Holy Baptism liturgy, with a focus on visual storytelling through the use of ministry icons.
- Transition: In 2022, we heartily acknowledge the transitions that are occurring in our world due to the coronavirus and within our diocese as we elect a new Bishop Diocesan. We also recognize the many transitions churches have undergone through clergy retirements, as well as, increasing changes to church demographics.
Preparing for 2023
This year we're beginning with the basics as we remind ourselves of the importance of a good foundation. Jesus is our cornerstone and foundation, just as best practices are foundational to your stewardship program. It's important to build a strong foundation and that means having a good communications strategy, creating a narrative budget, putting together a good team. You can find resources for everything you need right here.
In addition, the Diocese of Virginia is a member of TENS [The Episcopal Network for Stewardship]. This means that all of our congregations have free access to their member-only materials. Reach out for password-protected information.
We have webinars for narrative budgets and visual budgets. We have communications ready to for you to tailor to your context. We have options for blessings and prayers - and more of all of these to come. Take a look around and reach out if you have any questions.

Our fall 2022 program, Do Not Be Afraid, reflects the transformation and encouragement of the many voices who come as messengers in our lives and remind us that God's love is greater than the fear we may be feeling. What was different in 2022? There was a lot of transition in our lives, so we built on the skills we've learned over the past six years.
