2021 Annual Giving Resources

This is a transformational year for all of us as we regather together. It’s also an exciting time to be in the Diocese of Virginia as we begin the search for our 14th Bishop Diocesan.

Since the pandemic began our lives have changed and our annual giving program for the fall will reflect this as well. Be sure to read the Program Overview and follow the Stewardship and Development Facebook page for more updates, resources, and best practices throughout the season.

Our theme Broken Open centers on the words Jesus spoke to his disciples at the first Eucharist:
“While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” Matthew 26:26

This annual giving program continues the foundation laid by last year's One Together program in its use of visual storytelling. However, Broken Open provides congregations with the opportunity to further integrate their own culture and context into the fall stewardship campaigns based around the provided sample letter and pledge card.

There is a wealth of information and help available for leaders to use from past year’s and we encourage you to use best practices while continuing to utilize what works within your context and strengthening your skills. If you have great ideas to share, please bring them to the Stewardship and Development Facebook page so other congregations can learn from you! And if you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out, we are all here to help.
